psmcd67 on "[Plugin: The Events Calendar] 500 Internal Server Error with version 4.0.2"

I'm running WP 4.4 and after upgrading my theme Twenty Fourteen to version 1.6 and updating The Events Calendar to version 4.0.2, the calendar is no longer playing nice with my site. I'm getting 500 Internal server errors if I activate Events Calendar. So I've had to deactivate it. Anybody else run into this issue? Any ideas, suggestions, fixes out there?
